Protecting Your Data — Backups and Snapshots
Cloud679 provides two ways to protect your VM data: Snapshots for quick point-in-time captures, and Backups for proper disaster recovery stored on separate infrastructure.
Snapshots vs Backups — What's the Difference?

⚠ Important: Snapshots are NOT a substitute for backups. Always use Backups for critical data you cannot afford to lose.
Taking a Snapshot
- Open your VM from the Virtual Machines list
- Click the Snapshots tab
- Click Take Snapshot
- Enter a descriptive name (e.g. before-update-2026-07-22)
- Click Save
Restoring from a Snapshot
- Open your VM → click the Snapshots tab
- Find the snapshot you want to restore
- Click Restore
- Confirm the action — the VM will revert to the snapshot state
Creating a Backup
- Open your VM from the Virtual Machines list
- Click the Backups tab
- Click Create Backup
- Select Backup Storage 1
- Click Start Backup
- The backup will run in the background — you can continue using your VM
Restoring from a Backup
- Open your VM → click the Backups tab
- Find the backup you want to restore
- Click Restore
- Select a target storage and confirm
